Stationery The wear and the deterioration of a book do not mean any more one irrevocable loss of information. A cloth or a paper cover appears to me a binding completely appropriate to the current value of letterpress and stationery books. I am a bookbinder of formation and profession, but my technique and gestures has moved away from contemporary bookbinding art towards realization of modern and nevertheless sophisticated stationery objects In binding also "Less is more".
Zigzag (the Brancusi) One day a sculptor, seized a section of coarse wood. With his two hands, he examines it seeking a primary form, a kind of meta-physical language between him and the wood. He creates then, in complicity with the matter, a pioneer sculpture in the history of modern art. One day, in my workshop, in the middle of paper piles, I wanted to bring evidence of presence, of real matter in the paper. Between the actual existence of the tools and usual gestures of the work of the sheet, a sculpture was created, almost by itself. It was the renaissance of the wood sculpture from 1920. As if this form had always been there, registered genetically in each paper sheet. |
